Visa and residence permits

The residence permit process, the paperwork the immigration office actually asks for, and what to do when a deadline is close. Members who went through it last year are the ones who explain it, and the Union steps in when something needs to go to the Embassy.

Accommodation and housing leads

Dormitory places, rooms passed on by graduating members, and landlords other students have dealt with — including a warning about the ones they would not use again. Every city has a representative who knows the local market.

Academic support and university life

Course selection, credit transfer, scholarship applications and problems with a faculty. The Union acts as a bridge between students and Hungarian institutions, and pairs new arrivals with senior students who have already found their footing.

Financial clarity and integrity

Your contributions and your standing, visible to you at any time. Union funds are recorded, reported back to members, and independently checked — so trust does not depend on who happens to be holding the account.

Welfare, in confidence

Illness, hardship, housing lost at short notice, harassment or discrimination. There is someone whose job it is to help, what you say stays confidential, and emergency assistance is available when a member needs it.

Events and gatherings

Cultural nights, networking, academic workshops, and our annual gathering each April. Members say in the app whether they are coming, so organisers plan for the people who actually arrive.

Representation

The Union speaks for Sierra Leonean students in Hungary — with universities, with the Embassy, with other African student unions, and at events we are invited to.
